Updates and recovery

Nabik starts with Debian after a normal reboot. It also restarts its managed services after an unexpected service failure. A device cannot start itself while power is off; set Restore on AC Power Loss in its BIOS if you need recovery after load shedding.

Useful commands on the Debian device:

sudo nabikctl status
sudo nabikctl logs
sudo nabikctl restart
sudo nabikctl backup

Backups under /opt/nabik/backups contain private device information and camera credentials. Copy them to secure storage outside the device. Recordings need their own backup. The backup command pauses recording briefly while it captures a consistent database.

For an update, download the new official installer after Nabik announces it, review it, and run it again. The installer keeps your configuration, device identity, and recordings. Make a backup first, especially before a major change. Do not replace image references or copy device identity files manually.
